At Walsh’s Medical Centre our women’s health services include:

Breast Check:
Breast disease is a worry to women and breast cancer is unfortunately the most common form of cancer in women. All women over 50 years are strongly encouraged to avail of  the government sponsored mammography service. Those under 50 should also perform regular self examination as this is very important to ensure early diagnosis and high cure rates. The doctor will teach you how to make a reliable examination yourself.

Family Planning:

We offer an informative family planning counselling service for patients with fertility problems. We will talk to both partners, organise blood tests, sperm counts and refer to specialised clinics if necessary.

Contraceptive Advice:

We can offer advice on the full range of contraceptive options and also supply emergency contraception and Depo Provera Injection if needed.

Pregnancy Care:

Our pregnancy care programme includes Pregnancy Testing, Antenatal Care & Postnatal Care. We take part in the combined antenatal care where your visits to the hospital are reduced by attending your own doctor for a number of visits during your pregnancy.

Menopause Care:

We have a menopause counselling service and can offer advice on medication and other means to deal with this stage in a woman’s life.

Other Services Include:

24 Hour Blood Pressure Monitoring - Cryotherapy, ECG Spirometry, Minor Surgery, Dietary Advice, Quit Smoking Support

FREE Cervical Smear:

FREE Cervical Smears on all women age 25 to 60 done by our practice nurse Siobhan Leacy.

GP Consultations:
We operate a walk-in clinic with appointments available from 3pm to 6pm. We are open 6 days per week. For surgery hours click here.
